There are situations in which you may need to capture your desktop and save it as an image file. For example, you may want to save the text message displayed by a certain application, so you can read it later on. Or you want to report an error message of an application to its developer. In this case, Windows cannot help you much, as the capturing utility that comes with the operating system is difficult to use and requires a lot of steps before the screenshot can be saved as an actual image file. But when using Captus, things become much easier.

That's because Captus allows you to capture your screen in different ways and save it directly to an image file, without having to use clipboard and Microsoft Paint. After loading the application, the user will see an intuitive and practical interface which includes a lot of options. The user can choose to capture the whole screen, an active window or only a certain region. What's more, he can add different effects to the screenshot, like shadow or border, having the possibility of downloading more effects from the Internet.

After choosing the desired capturing mode, one can customize the program's functionality, by selecting the type of action that should be taken after capturing the screen. As such, Captus can be configured to open the screenshot in its own editor or just save it as an image file, after the capturing process is finished. When choosing to open the image editor, the user will be able to add different elements to the screenshot, like shapes and text and also a large number of effects. The program's settings can be saved under different scenarios or presets, for lowering the time required for configuring the application.

Pros

It allows you to capture the desktop in different ways and automatically save it as an image file. Besides that, the image editor that comes with the application allows adding various effects and elements to the screenshot. Furthermore, shortcut keys can be used for capturing the screen.

Cons

Some users may need to spend some time with the program's interface in order to understand it completely. Captus allows you to easily capture the desktop in various ways and edit the screenshot using an integrated and fully-featured image editor.
